The years assigned to the several planets in Sloka 21 supra are to be adopted in full when they are in exaltation. When a planet is in its depression point, the period assigned to it is reduced by half; when it occupies an intermediate position, the reduction is to be proportionate, say the wise.

(श्लोक २३ का विषय — उच्च राशि में पूर्ण, नीच राशि में आधा, मध्य में अनुपात से ह्रास — ऊपर श्लोक १८ एवं २१ की व्याख्या में आ चुका है, इसलिये ओझा ने पृथक हिन्दी नहीं दी।) श्लोक २४ — मणित्थ, चाणक्य, मय तथा अन्य आचार्यों ने 'पिण्डायु' को आयुर्दाय निश्चित करने का सर्वोत्तम प्रकार बताया है। परन्तु सत्याचार्य के मत से यह प्रकार साधु (उत्तम) नहीं है। वराहमिहिर के मत से भी यह उत्तम प्रकार नहीं है।
