When malefic planets occupy the 6 Bhavas counted backward from the 12th, the whole, a half, a third, a fourth, a fifth and a sixth respectively of their Ayurdaya is lost. When benefic planets occupy such positions, the loss is half of that incurred in the case of malefic ones. When several planets are in a Bhava, only the strongest of them causes a reduction in the Ayurdaya. All planets except Mars lose a third of their Ayurdaya when in inimical houses. The number of years contributed by the Lagna according to Satyacharya's view corresponds to the number of its Navamsas that have risen. Even if the Lagna be strong or of medium strength, the same rule holds.

यदि पापग्रह बारहवें घर में हो तो उसकी प्रदत्त आयु पूरी कम कर दी जाती है; यदि ग्यारहवें घर में हो तो आधी कम कीजिये; दसवें घर में हो तो तिहाई कम करें; नवें घर में हो तो चतुर्थांश कम करें; आठवें घर में हो तो पंचमांश कम करें; सातवें घर में हो तो षष्ठांश कम करें। यदि शुभग्रह इसी प्रकार १२वें, ११वें, १०वें, ९वें, ८वें या ७वें घर में हो तो पापग्रह होने पर जितना घटाते उसका आधा भाग कम कीजिये। यदि एक से अधिक ग्रह सातवें से १२वें — इन छः भावों में से किसी में हों, तो केवल जो सबसे अधिक बली हो उसी की प्रदत्त आयु में कमी करते हैं — अन्य ग्रहों की प्रदत्त आयु में कमी नहीं करते। मंगल को छोड़कर अन्य ग्रह यदि शत्रु राशि में हों तो उनकी प्रदत्त आयु में तिहाई (१/३) कम कर देते हैं। सत्याचार्य का मत है कि जितने नवांश लग्न में उदित हों उतनी आयु लग्न की होती है। चाहे लग्न बलवान हो या निर्बल — यही नियम लागू होता है।
