The signs, degrees, minutes, etc., of a planet should be converted into minutes, and as many multiples of 2400 as may be found necessary should be subtracted from the same. The remainder represents the Ayushkalas of the planet. The same should be divided by 200. The quotient gives the number of years, months and days in the Amsayurdaya contribution towards the span of life by a planet according to its Degree, etc., according to Satyacharya. If the planet be retrograde or in exaltation, this quotient has to be trebled. If the planet be in his own Rasi or Navamsa, decanate or Vargottama, the Ayurdaya has to be doubled; if in depression, it has to be reduced by half. If the planet be eclipsed, then also the reduction is half. But this last reduction will not apply to Venus and Saturn.

प्रत्येक ग्रह के स्पष्ट राशि-अंश-कला से कला बनाकर २४०० से भाग दीजिये। जो शेष रहे उतनी आयुष्कला वह ग्रह प्रदान करता है। इन आयुष्कलाओं को २०० से भाग दीजिये — लब्धि = वर्ष; शेष को १२ से गुणा कर २०० का भाग दीजिये — लब्धि = मास; शेष को ३० से गुणाकर २०० का भाग दीजिये — लब्धि = दिन। यह सत्याचार्य का मत है। यदि ग्रह उच्च राशि में हो या वक्री हो तो उसके प्रदत्त वर्ष-मास-दिन को तिगुना कर लेना चाहिये। यदि ग्रह स्व-नवांश, स्व-द्रेष्काण या वर्गोत्तम हो तो उसके प्रदत्त वर्ष-मास-दिन को दुगुना करना चाहिये। यदि ग्रह नीच राशि में हो या अस्त हो तो उसके दिये हुए वर्ष-मास-दिन को आधा कर दीजिये। लेकिन यह अस्तंगत ग्रह की दशा को आधी करने की प्रक्रिया शुक्र और शनि को लागू नहीं होती।
