1, 2, 9, 20, 18, 20 and 50 are the figures indicating the number of years prescribed respectively for the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, the Sun and Saturn in the Naisargikadasa system. The Dasas play their part in the order given here according to the natural strength of the planets concerned. The Yavanas are of opinion that the Lagna Dasa which is benefic comes after these Dasas. But others do not approve of this method.

चन्द्रमा का १ वर्ष, मंगल के २ वर्ष, बुध के ९ वर्ष, शुक्र के २० वर्ष, बृहस्पति के १८ वर्ष, सूर्य के २० वर्ष, शनि के ५० वर्ष — नैसर्गिक दशा में होते हैं। यवनों के मत से शनि के ५० वर्ष में लग्न-दशा भी सम्मिलित है, परन्तु अन्य लोगों को मान्य नहीं है। जो ग्रह जन्म कुण्डली में अच्छा पड़ा हो वह शुभ, जो अनिष्ट पड़ा हो वह पाप फल करता है। ग्रहों का बल (षड्बल) निकाल कर जो नैसर्गिक दशा लगाई जाती है उसके लिये केशवीय जातक पद्धति तथा श्रीपति पद्धति देखनी चाहिये।
