The Apahara or Bhukti of any of the planets constituting a Mahadasa is thus obtained. Find out the particular mnemonical syllable (out of the nine syllables) composing a formula whose Bhukti is wanted, and find out the owner of the Rasi signified by that syllable. Multiply the number of years assigned to this planet by the number of years fixed for the planet whose Mahadasa is under consideration, and divide the product by the total number of years constituting the entire Ayus of the formula or Chakra. The quotient in years, etc., will represent the sub-period required.

अब प्रत्येक राशि की दशा में अन्य राशियों की अन्तर्दशा निकालने का प्रकार बताते हैं। अश्विनी प्रथम चरण की दशाएँ हैं — मेष-मंगल ७ वर्ष, वृष-शुक्र १६ वर्ष आदि। अब मेष-मंगल की ७ वर्ष की दशा में नौ राशियों की अन्तर्दशा होगी, जैसे विंशोत्तरी दशा में प्रत्येक ग्रह की महादशा में नौ ग्रहों की अन्तर्दशा होती है। अश्विनी प्रथम चरण का कुल महादशा मान १०० वर्ष है। अतः १०० वर्ष दशामान में वृषभ-शुक्र को मिले १६ वर्ष; १ वर्ष दशा में मिलेंगे १६/१००; तो ७ वर्ष (मेष-मंगल की दशा में) वृषभ-शुक्र की अन्तर्दशा (१६×७)/१०० = ११२/१०० वर्ष। इनके वर्ष-महीने-दिन हिसाब कर निकाल लीजिये। इन महादशा-अन्तर्दशाओं की छपी हुई सारणी भी आती है — वह सारिणी पास में होने से गणित का कष्ट नहीं उठाना पड़ता।
