Saturn is dark in form, lame, and has wind in his composition. He has got deep eyes, and a lean and tall body full of arteries and veins. He is idle, and is exceedingly calumniating. He governs the muscle in the body. He is cruel, and has no pity. He is dull-headed. He has got large nails, teeth, stiff hair and limbs. He is dirty and is of sinful disposition. He is fierce and is a personification of anger. He is ripe with old age and wears a black garment.

शनि — पंगु (लँगड़ा), निम्न (गहरे) नेत्र, कृश तथा दीर्घ शरीर, सिराओं से युक्त (नस-नाड़ियों वाला), अलस (आलसी), अति-पिशुन (बहुत चुग़लखोर), कृष्ण अंग (काला रंग), वात-प्रकृति, स्नायु-कारक (मांसपेशियों का अधिष्ठाता), निर्दय (दया-रहित), क्रूर, मूर्ख, स्थूल नख और दाँत, परुष (कठोर) रोम और अंग, अशुचि (मलिन), तामस-प्रकृति, रौद्र (भयानक), क्रोधपरायण, जरा-परिणत (वृद्धावस्था से जर्जर), कृष्ण वस्त्र-धारी — ये शनि के समस्त लक्षण हैं।
