If the lord of the Lagna occupy the 4th house or the lord of the latter be in the Lagna, if the Moon should have the aspect of either of these, the person born will certainly perform the mother's funeral rites. But if these two planets be posited in the inimical or depression signs of each other or the 6th and the 8th houses and are not in any way connected (vide XV-30, supra) with each other (either by association or aspect), the person will not be able to do the last funeral rites for the mother at the time of her demise.

यदि लग्नेश चतुर्थ में हो या चतुर्थेश लग्न में हो और चन्द्रमा इनसे योग या दृष्टि करे तो जातक अपनी माता का अन्तिम संस्कार (दाह, श्राद्ध आदि) करता है। यदि ये दोनों — लग्नेश और चतुर्थेश — एक दूसरे से छठे, आठवें, एक दूसरे की शत्रु या नीच राशि में हों और इन दोनों का 'बन्ध' न हो तो जातक अपनी माता का अन्तिम संस्कार नहीं कर सकेगा।
