If the 7th house or setting Navamsa be a sign owned by a benefic, the husband of the woman will be bright in appearance, famous, learned and wealthy. If it be otherwise, he will be deformed, and stupid or be a gambler (or deceitful) and will have lost all his wealth, and the couple will not live together. If the Rasi and Amsa of the 7th house belong to Mars or if Mars occupies it (the 7th), the female born will become a widow; if the planets in the 7th house be of a mixed sort, she will be remarried. If the 8th house be occupied by malefics, she will cause the destruction of her husband. If benefics should occupy the 2nd house she would herself die.

यदि सप्तम भाव मध्य पर सत् (शुभ ग्रहों की राशि और शुभ नवांश, शुभ-युत, शुभ-दृष्ट) हो तो उस स्त्री को सौन्दर्य, यश, विद्या तथा धन से युक्त पति मिलेगा। यदि इसका उलटा हो — अर्थात् सप्तम भाव मध्य पर अशुभ राशि, अशुभ नवांश हो — तो कुतनु (कुत्सित शरीर वाला), मूर्ख, चालाक, निर्धन पति होगा, और उन (पति-पत्नी) का वियोग भी होगा (एक साथ न रहें या मृत्यु के कारण)। यदि सप्तम में मंगल हो तो विधवा हो; यदि शुभ और पाप दोनों प्रकार के ग्रह सप्तम में हों तो पुनर्विवाह करे। यदि अष्टम में क्रूर ग्रह हों तो पति की आयु का हरण करती है, अर्थात् पति अल्पायु होता है; किन्तु यदि द्वितीय भाव में (लग्न से दूसरे) अशुभ ग्रह हों तो स्त्री की स्वयं की मृत्यु हो जाती है। हमारा अनुभव है कि वर और कन्या यदि दोनों की कुण्डली में मंगल, शनि, राहु, केतु, सूर्य का दोष बराबर हो तो दोनों कुण्डलियाँ एक-दूसरे के दोष को काट देती हैं।
