The number of issues should be determined by a consideration of (1) the planets in the 5th house or those that are posited along with the lord of the 5th house, as to how many of them are in friendly, depression or inimical Navamsas. A similar examination should also be made in respect of the 5th house or its lord reckoned from the sign occupied by Jupiter and the sign representing the Navamsa occupied by the Sun.

इस श्लोक में यह देखना बताया गया है कि कितने पुत्र होंगे। लग्न से १, २, ४, ५, ७, ८, ९, १२ स्थान अपचय स्थान कहलाता है। लग्न से ३, ६, १०, ११ उपचय स्थान कहलाता है। यह देखिये कि कौन से ग्रह पाँचवें घर में बैठे हैं या पाँचवें घर के स्वामी के साथ बैठे हैं और उनमें से कितने ऐसे हैं जो मित्र, नीच और शत्रु नवांश में हैं। इसी प्रकार यह विचारिये कि बृहस्पति से पंचम स्थान में कौन-कौन से ग्रह हैं — वे तथा बृहस्पति से पंचम स्थान का स्वामी मित्र नवांश में है या नहीं। यह भी देखना चाहिये कि सूर्य जिस नवांश में है उससे पंचम में जो ग्रह है या उससे पंचम का जो स्वामी है यह सब मित्र नवांश में हैं या नहीं।
