When the Ashtakavarga (of any planet) has been computed, note the house that contains the highest number of benefic dots and what Bhava it represents, reckoning the house occupied by the Karaka planet as the Lagna or the first house. When a planet — whether benefic or malefic — transits that house, it advances that Bhava, that is, will produce good effects. If otherwise — that is, when the planet transits a house containing a few or no benefic dots — the reverse will be the case.

इस श्लोक में प्रायः वही बात दोहराई गई है जो श्लोक १२ में बता चुके हैं — कि जिस ग्रह का गोचरवश विचार किया जा रहा हो, वह जन्म-कुण्डली में जिस राशि में है, वहाँ से इस समय किस भाव में जा रहा है, उसी भाव सम्बन्धी शुभाशुभ फल करेगा। अधिक बिन्दु = शुभ; कम बिन्दु = अशुभ। उदाहरण: श्लोक १३ के तीन व्यक्ति यज्ञदत्त, देवदत्त, भवदत्त — तीनों को गोचरवश धनु का बृहस्पति अनुकूल है, परन्तु क्या तीनों को एक ही फल प्राप्त होगा? नहीं। यज्ञदत्त की कुण्डली में मेष का बृहस्पति है तो मेष से धनु नवम होने से नवम-भाव सम्बन्धी हर्ष/भाग्योदय; देवदत्त की कुण्डली में मिथुन का बृहस्पति है तो मिथुन से धनु सप्तम होने से स्त्री-सम्बन्धी हर्ष; भवदत्त की कुण्डली में सिंह का बृहस्पति है तो सिंह से धनु पंचम होने से पुत्र या विद्या-सम्बन्धी हर्ष।
