It is through the (number of) planets in the 7th house that one ought to divine the number of women that a person may associate with. Of these the number that will die (at an early age) will correspond to the number (of planets in the 7th house) that are malefic, while the number of benefics will denote the number that will survive. If the lord of the 7th be benefic and possessed of strength, the native will have a good-natured woman as his partner and be endowed with good children. Even a malefic will do good to the wife, if he should be in the 7th owning that house. Benefics in the 7th will be productive of good unless they happen to be the lords of the 6th, 8th and 12th houses.

जितने ग्रह सप्तम में हों उतनी स्त्रियाँ होंगी यह समझना। इन ग्रहों में जितने पाप-ग्रह हों उतनी स्त्रियाँ नष्ट होंगी और जितने शुभ-ग्रह हों उतनी कायम रहेंगी। अब कानून द्वारा हिन्दुओं में बहु-विवाह प्रथा समाप्त हो चुकी है, अतः बहु-विवाह वाला ज्योतिष का नियम लागू नहीं होगा — क्योंकि ज्योतिष के सिद्धान्त देश, काल, पात्र के अनुसार लागू किये जाते हैं। यदि सप्तम भाव का स्वामी शुभ-ग्रह हो, बलवान् हो, तो उसे साध्वी और पुत्रवती स्त्री प्राप्त हो। पाप-ग्रह भी सप्तम में यदि स्वगृही हो तो शुभ फल ही करता है। शुभ-ग्रह (यदि वह छठे, आठवें या बारहवें का स्वामी न हो) सप्तम भाव में हो तो सुख बढ़ाता है, अर्थात् स्त्री-सुख प्रदान करता है।
