If at a birth Mercury should occupy the 9th house from the Lagna, the person concerned will have learning and wealth; he will be of good conduct; he will be religious-minded, conversant with everything, and very eloquent in speech. If Mercury be in the 10th house, the person born will be successful in whatever he undertakes, will have good learning, strength, intelligence, and happiness. He will do good acts and be truthful. Mercury in the 11th house makes the person born long-lived, truthful, very rich, happy and possessed of servants. If Mercury be in the 12th house, the person born will be miserable, devoid of learning, suffer humiliation, will be cruel and inactive.

यदि नवम में बुध हो तो मनुष्य विद्वान्, धनवान्, धार्मिक और आचारवान् होता है। ऐसा व्यक्ति बहुत बोलने वाला (इसे सद्गुण के अर्थ में लेना चाहिये, अवगुण में नहीं) और प्रवीण होता है। दशम में बुध हो तो विद्वान्, बलवान्, बुद्धिमान्, सुखी, सत्कर्म करने वाला, सत्यान्वित (सत्य पर कायम रहने वाला) होता है और सफलता प्राप्त करता है — जिस कार्य को प्रारम्भ करता है उसमें प्रारम्भ में ही सिद्धि (सफलता) प्राप्त होती है। यदि ग्यारहवें में बुध हो तो दीर्घायु, सच बात पर कायम रहने वाला (अर्थात् जो वचन दे दिया उसे पूरा करने वाला), विपुल धन वाला, सुखी होता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति को नौकरों का सुख भी प्राप्त होता है। द्वादश में बुध का निकृष्ट फल है — ऐसा व्यक्ति दीन, आलसी, क्रूर, विद्या-हीन होता है तथा अपमान को भी प्राप्त होता है।
