As regards the correct determining of the Lagna of birth, some opine that it is the time of Adhana or impregnation; others say that it is the time when the head (of the infant) emerges; some others say that it is the time when the child (falls to) touches the ground; while other experts in Astrology hold that it is the time when the child gets itself completely separated from the mother's womb.

जन्म का समय कौन-सा लिया जाय? कोई तो गर्भाधान के लग्न को ही मुख्य मानते हैं और कुछ लोगों के मत से जब बच्चे का सिर माँ के शरीर से बाहर निकल आवे उस समय को मुख्य मानना चाहिये। कुछ अन्य लोगों का मत है कि जब बालक का पूरा शरीर पृथ्वी पर आ जाय वह समय लेना चाहिये और कुछ अन्य ज्योतिषियों का मत है कि जब नाल काटी जाय तब का समय लेना चाहिये क्योंकि जब तक नाल नहीं कटती तब तक बालक का पृथक्‌ अस्तित्व नहीं होता।
