Consider the following 3 pairs: (A) the decanate Rasis of the Lagna and the Moon; (B) the Navamsa Rasis of the lord of the Lagna and the lord of the sign occupied by the Moon; and (C) the Dwadasamsa Rasis of the lord of the Lagna and of the lord of the 8th house. The life of the child may be pronounced as Deergha, Madhya and Alpa according as (a) when one of the Rasis in the said 3 pairs is a Chara sign, the other is a Chara, Stthira and Ubhaya sign; (b) when one of the Rasis is a Stthira sign, the other is a Dwandwa, Chara and Stthira sign; and (c) when one of the Rasis is a Dwandwa sign, the other is in a Stthira, Dwandwa and Chara sign respectively.

यह देखिये कि निम्नलिखित चर हैं या स्थिर या द्विस्वभाव: (क) लग्न द्रेष्काण राशि और चन्द्र द्रेष्काण राशि। यदि दोनों चर में हों या एक स्थिर में दूसरी द्विस्वभाव में तो दीर्घायु। यदि दोनों स्थिर या एक चर एक द्विस्वभाव राशि में हो तो अल्पायु। यदि दोनों द्विस्वभाव या एक चर एक स्थिर राशि में हो तो मध्यायु होता है। (ख) लग्नेश नवांश राशि और चन्द्रेश नवांश राशि। यदि दोनों चर में हों या एक स्थिर में दूसरी द्विस्वभाव में तो दीर्घायु। यदि दोनों स्थिर या एक चर एक द्विस्वभाव में हो तो अल्पायु। यदि दोनों द्विस्वभाव में या एक चर एक स्थिर में हों तो मध्यायु होती है। (ग) लग्नेश द्वादशांश राशि और रन्ध्रेश द्वादशांश राशि। यदि दोनों चर राशि में हों या एक स्थिर में दूसरी द्विस्वभाव में तो दीर्घायु। यदि दोनों स्थिर में या एक चर एक द्विस्वभाव में तो अल्पायु। यदि दोनों द्विस्वभाव में या एक चर एक स्थिर में हो तो मध्यायु होती है। तीनों मत से विचार करने पर बहुमत से जो निर्णय आये वह निर्णय मानना चाहिये।
