The star in which the Moon is at the time of birth of a person is to be reckoned as the first and is called Janmarksha; the tenth therefrom is called Karmarksha; the 16th, they say, is styled Sanghathika; the 18th is named Samudaya; the 19th is called Adhana; the 23rd is known as Vamasika; the 25th, the 26th and the 27th stars are called respectively Jati, Desa and Abhisheka. If the Janmarksha and other stars above enumerated be occulted by malefic planets at the birth of any person, they will cause death on the very day of birth; if occulted by benefic planets, they will produce benefic effects.
