The Lagna becomes strong and powerful only if it be aspected or occupied by its lord, Jupiter or Mercury, and not by other planets. The biped signs are strong during the day if they happen to be in a Kendra position; the quadruped signs are strong at night when in the same Kendra position. All reptile and watery signs when in Kendra position possess strength in the two periods of junction between day and night (morning and evening). The measures of the first six signs are represented by the numbers 30, 24, 28, 32, 36 and 40 respectively. The same numbers taken in the inverse order give the second six signs. The third house is known as Duschikya; the 9th as Tapas and Tryadya; and Trikona [denotes the trinal houses].

लग्न तभी बलवान होता है जब उसके स्वामी, गुरु या बुध की दृष्टि या युति हो — अन्य ग्रहों से नहीं। द्विपाद राशियाँ दिन में केन्द्र में होने पर बलवान होती हैं; चतुष्पाद राशियाँ रात में उसी केन्द्र स्थिति में बलवान होती हैं। सभी कीट और जलीय राशियाँ केन्द्र में होने पर दिन और रात के संधि-काल (प्रातः और सायं) में बली होती हैं। पहली छः राशियों के माप क्रमशः 30, 24, 28, 32, 36 और 40 से दर्शाए जाते हैं। इन्हीं संख्याओं का उलटा क्रम अगली छः राशियों को दर्शाता है। तृतीय भाव 'दुश्चिक्य', नवम 'तपस' और 'त्र्यद्य' तथा त्रिकोण शब्द त्रिकोण भावों का बोध कराता है।
