The signs Taurus and Leo are to be multiplied by 10; Gemini and Scorpio by 8; Aries and Libra by 7; Virgo and Capricorn by 5. The remaining signs should be multiplied by their respective numbers indicating their order counted from Aries, i.e., Cancer by 4, Sagittarius by 9, Aquarius by 11 and Pisces by 12. Thus should the several signs be multiplied, when they happen to be the Ascendant. The planets Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury should be respectively multiplied by 10, 8, 7 and 5, and the remaining planets should each be multiplied by 5 as in the case of Mercury, when these happen to be in the Lagna. When there are several planets in the Lagna, then each of these multiplications must be effected.

वृष और सिंह राशियों को 10 से गुणा करना चाहिए; मिथुन और वृश्चिक को 8 से; मेष और तुला को 7 से; कन्या और मकर को 5 से। शेष राशियों को मेष से गिनकर उनके क्रम को सूचित करने वाली अपनी-अपनी संख्याओं से गुणा करना चाहिए, अर्थात् कर्क को 4 से, धनु को 9 से, कुम्भ को 11 से और मीन को 12 से। इस प्रकार विभिन्न राशियों को गुणा करना चाहिए, जब वे लग्न हों। ग्रहों गुरु, मंगल, शुक्र और बुध को क्रमशः 10, 8, 7 और 5 से गुणा करना चाहिए, और शेष ग्रहों में से प्रत्येक को बुध की भाँति 5 से गुणा करना चाहिए, जब ये लग्न में हों। जब लग्न में कई ग्रह हों, तब इन सभी गुणनों को किया जाना चाहिए।
