According as the decanate of the 8th bhava (i.e., the 22nd from the Lagna) turns out to be a fiery, a watery or a mixed one, there is a transformation of the dead body by its being turned into ashes, or being thoroughly wetted and softened in water, or being dried up by exposure to the Sun and wind. If the decanate of the 8th house happens to be a Vyaladrekkana, the body is eaten by beasts and birds of prey, is assimilated into their bodies and thrown out as excrement. Thus, the final stage of the dead body has to be thought out in the manner stated above. The following is the essence of what has been culled from higher works (such as Jyotisha Karma Vipaka) regarding past and future life.

8वें भाव का द्रेक्काण (अर्थात् लग्न से 22वाँ) अग्नि, जल अथवा मिश्र होने के अनुसार, मृत शरीर का रूपान्तर भस्म होने, जल में पूर्णतः भीगकर मृदु होने, अथवा सूर्य और वायु के सामने सूख जाने के रूप में होता है। यदि 8वें भाव का द्रेक्काण व्याल-द्रेक्काण हो, तो शरीर पशुओं और शिकारी पक्षियों द्वारा खाया जाता है, उनके शरीरों में आत्मसात् होकर मल के रूप में बाहर निकाला जाता है। इस प्रकार मृत शरीर की अन्तिम अवस्था को उक्त रीति से सोचा जाना चाहिए। पूर्व और भविष्य के जीवन के सम्बन्ध में उच्चतर ग्रन्थों (जैसे ज्योतिष कर्म विपाक) से जो संग्रहित किया गया है, उसका सार निम्नलिखित है।
