Red, white, reddish, green, yellowish, variegated and black are the colours of the planets from the Sun onwards. Fire, water, Kumara, Vishnu, Indra, Indrani and Brahman are the presiding deities of the planets from the Sun in their order. The Sun, Venus, Mars, Rahu, Saturn, the Moon, Mercury and Jupiter are respectively the lords of the quarters East, South-East, South, South-West, West, North-West, North and North-East. The waning Moon, the Sun, Mars and Saturn are known as malefic planets. Mercury in conjunction with any of them is malignant also.

सूर्य से आरम्भ होने वाले ग्रहों के रंग क्रमशः लाल, श्वेत, रक्ताभ, हरा, पीला, विविधवर्णी और काला हैं। अग्नि, जल, कुमार, विष्णु, इन्द्र, इन्द्राणी और ब्रह्म सूर्य से क्रम में ग्रहों के अधिपति देवता हैं। सूर्य, शुक्र, मंगल, राहु, शनि, चन्द्र, बुध और गुरु क्रमशः पूर्व, अग्निकोण, दक्षिण, नैर्ऋत्य, पश्चिम, वायव्य, उत्तर और ईशान दिशाओं के स्वामी हैं। क्षीण चन्द्र, सूर्य, मंगल और शनि पापी ग्रह जाने जाते हैं। इनमें से किसी के साथ युति में बुध भी पापी हो जाता है।
