The quotient in years, months, etc., is the period to be diminished from the Ayurdaya found in consequence of a malefic planet occupying the Lagna. If the malefic planet in the Lagna be aspected by a benefic one, the reduction will be only by half of the period above found.

जितने नवांश-भाग (पूर्ण और भिन्नात्मक) लग्न के क्षितिज से उदय हो चुके हों, उस संख्या से ज्ञात आयुदाय को गुणा करें। गुणनफल को 108 से भाग दें। जो वर्ष, मास आदि में भागफल मिले, वह लग्न में पापी ग्रह के कारण आयुदाय से घटाई जाने वाली अवधि है। यदि लग्न में स्थित पापी ग्रह पर किसी शुभ ग्रह की दृष्टि हो, तो कटौती उपर्युक्त अवधि की केवल आधी होगी।
