The Sun is the ripener (or baker) of the effects of a Dasa, while the Moon is the sustaining agent. That is why the Moons transit position at the time of the commencement of a Dasa should be duly considered.

सूर्य दशा-फलों का परिपाक-कारक (पाचक) है, तथा चन्द्र पोषक है। यही कारण है कि दशा-आरम्भ के समय चन्द्र की गोचर-स्थिति का विधिवत् विचार करना चाहिए।
