Should the Ascendant be without the aspect of the Moon, the birth is behind the father, i.e. the father was absent from the place. If the Sun is in the 9th identical with a Movable Rasi, the father was in a foreign place. The Sun in the case of day birth and Saturn in the case of night birth, if aspected by Mars, delivery is out of fathers sight. If the said Sun, or Saturn be in a Movable Sign, death of father (in a distant place) should be declared. If the 3h, 6th and 7*1 from the Sun are aspected, or occupied by malefics, the father was under confinement. Movable, Fixed and Common Signs here indicate confinement, respectively, in foreign place, own place and on the way.

यदि लग्न पर चन्द्रमा की दृष्टि न हो, तो जन्म पिता की अनुपस्थिति में होता है, अर्थात् पिता उस समय जन्मस्थान पर नहीं था। यदि सूर्य नवम भाव में चर राशि से युक्त हो, तो पिता विदेश में था। दिन-जन्म में सूर्य तथा रात्रि-जन्म में शनि — यदि मंगल से दृष्ट हो, तो प्रसव पिता की दृष्टि से दूर हुआ। यदि उक्त सूर्य अथवा शनि चर राशि में हो, तो (दूर देश में) पिता की मृत्यु का योग कहना चाहिए। यदि सूर्य से तृतीय, षष्ठ एवं सप्तम भावों में पापग्रह हों या उन भावों पर पाप-दृष्टि हो, तो पिता बन्धन (कारागार) में था। चर, स्थिर एवं द्विस्वभाव राशियाँ क्रमशः विदेश में, स्वगृह में और मार्ग में बन्धन का सूचक हैं।
