The birth of a son should be expected during the Dasa or Apahara of any one of the 6 planets, viz., (1) the lord of the Lagna, (2) the lord of the 7th, (3) the lord of the 5th, (4) Jupiter, (5) the planet aspecting the 5th house, or (6) the one occupying the 5th house, or when Jupiter in his orbit transits the sign or the Navamsa Rasi occupied by the lord of the 5th house or the Yamakantaka (Upagraha).

निम्नलिखित ग्रहों में से किसी एक की महादशा या अन्तर्दशा हो तो पुत्रोत्पत्ति होती है: (क) लग्नेश (ख) सप्तमेश (ग) पंचमेश (घ) बृहस्पति (ङ) जो ग्रह पाँचवें घर को देखता है। पंचमेश या यम-कंटक जिस राशि या नवांश में हैं उससे त्रिकोण में जब गोचरवश बृहस्पति आता है तब भी पुत्रोत्पत्ति हो सकती है।
