If the planet in question happens to be the Sun, the person concerned becomes sonless owing to injury done to God Siva and Garuda and the consequent curse of the Manes; if the Moon, it will be due to the displeasure and anger of the mother, a Sumangali or other venerable woman owing to her feelings having been hurt; in the case of Mars, it will be due to some fault done to the village deity, to God Karttikeya, to an enemy, or one's Dayadins; if the planet be Mercury, the sonlessness will be due to curses made by youngsters or to the killing of spawns (eggs of fishes and similar creatures) or to the wrath of God Vishnu; if Jupiter be such planet, it will be due to some harm done to the hereditary Brahmin family priest or the destruction of a tree full of fruits; if the lord of 5th or the planet posited therein be Venus, the cause of childlessness will be due to the cutting off of a tree full of flowers, or an injury caused to a virtuous lady or to the cow kind or a sinful deed to people that ought to be revered; if Saturn be the planet under advertance, it will be due to the destruction of an Aswattha (Pipul) tree or on account of Yama's ire or through departed spirits, goblins and the like; if Rahu should occupy the 5th house or be associated with the lord of that house, it will be due to the curse of a serpent; in the case of Ketu, it will be owing to the curse of a Brahmin. If it be Mandi, it will be due to a curse from departed spirits. If Venus and the Moon in conjunction with Mandi should be in such a position, the cause will be attributed to the murder of a damsel or the killing of a cow. If Jupiter or Ketu in conjunction with Mandi be in the 5th house, the sonlessness will be on account of the murder of a Brahmin.

यदि सन्तान बाधाकारक ग्रह सूर्य है तो समझना चाहिये कि भगवान्‌ शम्भू और गरुड़ से द्रोह करने के कारण या पितरों के शाप का फल है। यदि सन्तान प्रतिबन्धक ग्रह चन्द्रमा है तो माता या किसी अन्य सधवा स्त्री के चित्त को दुःख पहुँचाने के कारण या भगवती का शाप सन्तान में बाधा है। यदि सन्तान प्रतिबन्धक ग्रह मंगल हो तो ग्रामदेवता, भगवान्‌ कार्तिक स्वामी के प्रति अवज्ञा से या शत्रुओं अथवा भाईबन्धुओं के शाप से सन्तान कष्ट है। यदि बुध सन्तान में बाधा डाल रहा है तो समझिये कि बिल्ली को मारने के कारण या मछलियों के या अन्य प्राणियों के अण्डों को नष्ट करने के कारण या कम उम्र के बालक-बालिकाओं के शाप से या भगवान्‌ विष्णु के कोप से सन्तान नहीं हो रही है। यदि जन्म कुण्डली में बृहस्पति बिगड़ा हुआ है और उसके कारण सन्तान नहीं हो रही है तो इस व्यक्ति ने इस जन्म में या पूर्व जन्म में फलदार वृक्षों को कटाया है या अपने कुलगुरु या कुल पुरोहित से द्रोह किया है। यदि शुक्र के कारण सन्तान नहीं हो रही है तो समझिये कि इस व्यक्ति ने पुष्प के वृक्षों को कटवाया है या गौ के प्रति कोई पाप किया है अथवा किसी साध्वी स्त्री के शाप से ऐसा हुआ है। प्रायः ऐसी स्थिति में यक्षिणी का शाप समझना चाहिये। यदि जन्म-कुण्डली में शनि बिगड़ा हुआ है तो समझिये कि इसने पीपल के पेड़ कटवाये और पिशाच, प्रेत तथा यमराज के शाप से ऐसा हुआ है। मृत आत्मा को प्रेत कहते हैं। यदि राहु पंचम में हो या पंचमेश को दूषित करता हो और उसके कारण सन्तान में बाधा हो रही हो तो समझिये कि सर्प के शाप से ऐसा हुआ है। यदि केतु के कारण यह दोष हो तो उसमें हेतु ब्राह्मण का शाप समझना चाहिये। यदि मान्दि पंचम में हो या पंचमेश के साथ हो और इस कारण अपुत्रता हो तो समझिये कि किसी प्रेत के शाप के कारण ऐसा है। यदि शुक्र और चन्द्रमा दोनों मान्दि के साथ हों तो यह समझना चाहिये कि इस व्यक्ति ने किसी गाय या युवती स्त्री की पूर्व जन्म में हत्या की है। किन्तु यदि केतु या बृहस्पति, मान्दि के साथ पंचम में हो तो समझिये कि इसने पूर्व जन्म में किसी ब्राह्मण की हत्या की है।
