One may predict the death of the child to occur very soon in the following cases, viz: (1) when malefics occupy (by themselves) the 8th and the Kendra houses, (2) when malefics are all placed in the 1st and the 8th houses, (3) when they occupy the 1st and the 7th, (4) when the Moon or the Lagna is betwixt two malefics, (5) if the Moon being devoid of strength occupy the 6th, the 5th or the 12th, (6) if the waning Moon in conjunction with a malefic is in the 1st, 5th, 7th, or 9th house, (7) if the malefics be in the 8th and 7th, and (8) when no benefic planets occupy or aspect a Kendra house.

निम्नलिखित योगों में भी शीघ्र मृत्यु होती है: (१) पाप-ग्रह केन्द्र और अष्टम में हों, (२) पाप-ग्रह लग्न और अष्टम में हों, (३) पाप-ग्रह लग्न और सप्तम में हों, (४) लग्न या चन्द्रमा पाप-ग्रहों के बीच में हो, (५) दुर्बल चन्द्रमा छठे, आठवें या बारहवें घर में हो, (६) क्षीण चन्द्रमा पाप-ग्रह के साथ १ले, ५वें, ७वें या ९वें घर में हो, (७) उग्र अर्थात्‌ पाप-ग्रह ७वें और ८वें घर में हों। ऊपर सातों स्थितियों में बालक की शीघ्र मृत्यु होती है किन्तु यदि शुभ-ग्रहों की युति या दृष्टि हो (लग्न या चन्द्रमा पर या पाप-ग्रहों पर) या केन्द्र में शुभ-ग्रह हों तो ऊपर लिखे शीघ्र मृत्यु करने वाले योगों का दुष्प्रभाव नहीं होता।
