The matters to be considered from the Sun and other planets are as follows — The Sun: the soul (ātmā), nature, physical strength and joys and sorrows and father. The Moon: mind, wisdom, joy and mother. Mars: co-borns, strength, qualities and land. Mercury: business dealings, livelihood and friends. Jupiter: nourishment of the body, learning, son (children), wealth and property. Venus: marriage, enjoyments, conveyance, prostitute and sexual intercourse with women. Saturn: longevity, source of maintenance, sorrows, danger, losses and death. The following procedure should be adopted to ascertain the effects of a house. Multiply the number of rekhas with the Yoga Pinda (Rasi Pinda plus Graha Pinda) connected with the Ashtakavarga of that planet and divide the product by 27. The remainder will denote the number of the nakshatra beginning from Ashwini. During the transit of Saturn in that nakshatra the house (Bhava) concerned will be harmed. In other words the effects of that house will become unfavourable.

आत्मप्रभावशक्तिश्च पितृचिन्ता रवेः फलम्‌ । मनोबुद्धिप्रसादं च मातृचिन्ता मृगाङ्कतः । । 1 । । भ्रातृसत्त्वगुणं भूमिं भौमेनैव विचिन्तयेत्‌ । वाणिज्यकर्मवृत्तिं च सुहृदं च बुधेन तु । । 2 । । गुरुणा देहपुष्टिं च विद्यापुत्रार्थसम्पदः । भृगोर्विवाहकर्माणि भोगस्थानं च वाहनम्‌ । । 3 । । वेश्यास्त्रीजनसम्भोगं शुक्रेण च निरीक्षयेत्‌ । आयुश्च जीवनोपायं दुःखशोकभयानि च । । 4 । । अष्टकवर्ग से विचारणीय विषय : (1) सूर्याष्टक वर्ग से आत्मा, जीवनी शक्ति, प्रभाव, तेज, शक्ति, पिता का विचार करना चाहिए । (2) चन्द्राष्टक वर्ग में मन, बुद्धि, प्रसन्नता, उदासी, माता का विचार, स्थान आदि देखें । (3) मंगलाष्टक वर्ग में भाई, मनोबल, अचल सम्पत्ति, भूमि आदि को देखें । (4) व्यापार, व्यवसाय, रोजगार, मित्रता आदि बुधाष्टक वर्ग में देखें । (5) गुर्वष्टक वर्ग में शरीर, शरीर की पुष्टि, विद्या, पुत्र, धन-सम्पदा आदि देखें । (6) शुक्राष्टक में विवाह, वैवाहिक सुख, वाहन, सुख भोग, विलास, जीवन स्तर, पराई या हीन स्त्री से सम्बन्ध, प्रेम आदि देखें । (7) शन्याष्टक में आयु, जीवन में आने वाली विपत्ति, भय, शोक, अवनति, सब प्रकार की हानि, मृत्यु आदि देखें ।
