DAŚĀṀŚA: Starting from the same sign for an odd sign and from the 9th with reference to an even sign, the 10 Daśāṁśas each of 3° are reckoned. These are presided over by the ten rulers of the cardinal directions — viz. Indra, Agni, Yama, Rākṣasa, Varuṇa, Vāyu, Kubera, Īśāna, Brahmā and Anantha — in case of an odd sign. It is in the reverse order that these presiding deities are reckoned when an even sign is given.

द्वादशांश-विवेक: राशि का बारहवाँ भाग (2°30'). सभी राशियों में विचारणीय राशि से ही गणना होती है। गणेश, अश्विनी-कुमार, यम, सर्प — ये क्रमशः अधिपति होते हैं।
