DAŚĀṀŚA: Starting from the same sign for an odd sign and from the 9th with reference to an even sign, the 10 Daśāṁśas each of 3° are reckoned. These are presided over by the ten rulers of the cardinal directions — viz. Indra, Agni, Yama, Rākṣasa, Varuṇa, Vāyu, Kubera, Īśāna, Brahmā and Anantha — in case of an odd sign. It is in the reverse order that these presiding deities are reckoned when an even sign is given.

दशमांश-विचार: राशि का दसवाँ हिस्सा (3°). विषम राशियों में उसी राशि से व सम राशियों में नवम राशि से दशमांश गिने जाते हैं। इन्द्र, अग्नि, यम, राक्षस, वरुण, वायु, कुबेर, ईशान, ब्रह्मा, अनन्त — ये दस दिग्पाल विषम राशियों में क्रम से तथा सम राशियों में व्युत्क्रम से स्वामी होते हैं।
