HOUSE SIGNIFICANCE: I now narrate the significance of the houses. The first house denotes the soul (and self), the 2nd house wife, the 11th preborn, the 3rd younger brothers/sisters, the 5th progeny and the 7th house wife. It is also said that a planet in the 5th becomes a kāraka for wife. The significators of the houses in order are: the Sun, Jupiter, Mars, the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn.

भाव-कारक विधि: अब मैं भावानुसारी कारकों को कहता हूँ। जन्म-लग्न को आत्म-कारक समझें। द्वितीय भाव पत्नी का कारक होता है। ग्यारहवाँ भाव बड़े भाई का तथा तृतीय भाव छोटे भाई का कारक होता है। पञ्चम भाव व सप्तम भाव से पुत्र का विचार करें। पञ्चम में जो भी ग्रह हो, वह भी ग्रह कारक होता है। द्वितीय भाव को भी पत्नी-विचार में सम्मिलित करना चाहिए। दक्षिण-भारतीय ग्रन्थों में द्वितीय भाव में मंगलादि पाप ग्रहों के रहने से भी मांगलिक-दोष माना जाता है — यह विशेषतया ध्यातव्य है। द्वितीय भाव — पत्नी-भाव से अष्टम रहने से भी वहाँ स्थित पाप ग्रह पत्नी के लिए अनिष्टकारक होगा।
