According to this principle we should be acquainted with the pādas of the nakshatras. Now I shall tell you how the calculations are made according to the proportion of the pādas of a nakshatra. The number of Aśvinī etc. (whichever may be the past nakshatras) should be divided by 3. Thereafter the remainder should be multiplied by 4. To the figure so made available the pāda of the present nakshatra be added. The product will be the Navāṁśa from Aries onwards.
