PAÑCASVARA DAŚĀ: Beginning from Akāradi 5 svaras (a, i, u, e, o), write underneath them the Varnas in 6 lines. Leave out the letters [OCR-corrupted consonant pair, two letters] because they are not used in names. If they are found in any name, [OCR-corrupted substitution-rule consonants] may be substituted for working out the Daśās and making predictions. In this manner, the svara under which the first varṇa of the name of the native is found will determine the order of the Daśās of the five svaras. Daśās are 12 years for all the five svaras. In the Daśā of every svara, there will be Antardaśās of all the five svaras in the same order.

पञ्चस्वर-दशा: पाँच स्वरों (अ, इ, उ, ए, ओ) को प्रथम रखकर उनके नीचे ककारादि वर्णों को ङ, ञ, ण को छोड़कर पाँच-पाँच की पंक्तियों में लिखें। यदि ङ, ञ, ण आएं तो क्रमशः ग, ज, उ माना जाए। जिस स्वर-वर्ण के नीचे नाम का प्रथम अक्षर आता हो उस स्वर से दशा का आरम्भ होता है। क्रमशः पाँच दशाधिपति 12-12 वर्षों की दशा देते हैं।
