DṚG DAŚĀ: In this system the order of the Daśās is as follows — (1) The ninth sign from the Ascendant; (2) The signs aspected by the sign in the ninth house; (3) The sign in the 10th from the Ascendant; (4) The signs aspected by the sign in the 10th house; (5) The sign in the 11th from the Ascendant; (6) The signs aspected by the sign in the 11th house. As this system is mostly based on aspects, it has been named as Dṛg Daśā. Three different processes are adopted for the Movable, Fixed and Dual signs from the 9th, 10th and 11th houses: the aspected sign from the Movable sign is counted backwards, and the aspected sign from the Fixed sign is counted onwards. In the case of the Dual sign, if it is odd the counting is onwards, and the order is backwards in case of an even sign for the aspected signs.

लग्न से धर्म (9वाँ) और उसकी दृष्ट राशियों की, फिर दशम और उसकी दृष्ट राशियों की, और एकादश और उसकी दृष्ट राशियों की दशा स्थिर-दशा के समान वर्षों की होती है। दृष्टि के आधार पर प्रवृत्त होने से इसे दृग्दशा कहते हैं। चर राशियों में उत्क्रम से, स्थिर राशियों में क्रम से, विषम राशियों में क्रम से और सम-द्विस्वभाव में उत्क्रम से दशा की दृष्ट राशियाँ ग्राह्य होती हैं।
