The menses of a woman which are due to the interaction of Mars and the Moon, e.g., of bile and blood, set in every month when the Moon is in an Apachayasthana (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th or 12th) from the Lagna. But if the Moon occupies a different position, i.e., is in an Upachayasthana (3rd, 6th, 10th or 11th) and is aspected by a benefic male planet, the woman lovingly unites with a man.

मंगल और चन्द्र की अन्तःक्रिया — अर्थात् पित्त और रक्त — से स्त्री को प्रतिमास रजोधर्म उस समय होता है जब चन्द्र लग्न से अनुपचय स्थान (प्रथम, द्वितीय, चतुर्थ, पञ्चम, सप्तम, अष्टम, नवम या द्वादश) में हो। किन्तु जब चन्द्र उपचयस्थान (तृतीय, षष्ठ, दशम या एकादश) में हो और किसी शुभ पुरुष ग्रह की दृष्टि पाए, तो स्त्री प्रेमपूर्वक पुरुष से मिलती है।
