The Moon, Mercury and Jupiter are to be respectively exchanged for Venus, Mars and Saturn when the seasons (Ritus) do not fit in with the Ayana previously determined. The rising decanate determines the first or the second month of the Ritu according as the first or the second half of the decanate is rising. The lunar day (Tithi) of the birth should be determined from the rising decanate by rule-of-three process.

चन्द्र, बुध और गुरु को क्रमशः शुक्र, मंगल और शनि से प्रतिस्थापित किया जाता है जब ऋतुएँ पहले निर्धारित अयन से मेल नहीं खातीं। उदित द्रेक्काण ऋतु के पहले अथवा दूसरे मास का निर्धारण करता है, इसके अनुसार कि द्रेक्काण का पहला अथवा दूसरा अर्ध भाग उदित हो रहा है। जन्म की चान्द्र तिथि उदित द्रेक्काण से त्रैराशिक प्रक्रिया द्वारा निर्धारित की जानी चाहिए।
