When the 8th house being unoccupied is aspected by a strong planet, the humour belonging thereto becomes inflamed in that part of the body which the Rasi of the 8th house represents, and death is thereby produced. When there are several strong planets aspecting the 8th house, the humours peculiar to them become morbid and produce death. But if that house be occupied, and the occupying planet be the Sun, death will be due to fire; if the Moon, it will be by water; if Mars, by a weapon; if Mercury, by fever; if Jupiter, by an ailment not accurately ascertained; if Venus, by thirst; and if Saturn, by hunger. And according as the 8th house is a movable, fixed or a mutable sign, death will be in a foreign place, in one's own house, or on the road.

जब 8वाँ भाव ग्रह-शून्य होकर किसी बलवान ग्रह से दृष्ट हो, तो उससे सम्बन्धित दोष शरीर के उस भाग में, जिसे 8वें भाव की राशि निरूपित करती है, उग्र हो जाता है, और इसी से मृत्यु होती है। जब 8वें भाव को दृष्ट करने वाले कई बलवान ग्रह हों, तो उनसे विशिष्ट दोष विकृत होकर मृत्यु उत्पन्न करते हैं। किन्तु यदि वह भाव अधिष्ठित हो और अधिष्ठित ग्रह सूर्य हो, तो मृत्यु अग्नि से होगी; यदि चन्द्र हो, तो जल से; यदि मंगल हो, तो शस्त्र से; यदि बुध हो, तो ज्वर से; यदि गुरु हो, तो किसी सटीक रूप से न ज्ञात रोग से; यदि शुक्र हो, तो प्यास से; और यदि शनि हो, तो भूख से। और 8वाँ भाव चर, स्थिर अथवा द्विस्वभाव राशि होने के अनुसार, मृत्यु विदेश में, अपने घर में, अथवा मार्ग में होगी।
