If at a birth Saturn should occupy the 4th house, the person concerned will be unhappy, houseless, without vehicles, deprived of his mother and sickly during his early years. If Saturn should be posited in the 5th house, the person born will be roaming about, will have lost his reason, will be bereft of children, wealth and happiness, will be perfidious and evil-minded. When Saturn occupies the 6th house, the person born will be a voracious eater, will be wealthy, subdued by his enemies, will be stubborn and possessed of self-respect. Saturn in the 7th house will cause the native to be wedded to a bad wife, to be poor, roaming and be distressed.

यदि जन्म कुण्डली में शनि चौथे घर में हो तो मनुष्य गृह-हीन, यान-हीन और मातृ-हीन होता है। ऐसा व्यक्ति बचपन में रोगी भी रहता है; चतुर्थ सुख-स्थान है, शनि यहाँ बैठकर सुख को नष्ट कर देता है इसलिये ऐसा मनुष्य सदैव दुःखी रहता है। चौथे घर से माता, मकान, यान (सवारी) आदि का विचार किया जाता है, इसलिये इनके सुख में भी कमी करे। यदि पंचम में शनि हो तो मनुष्य शठ (शैतान) और दुष्ट-बुद्धि वाला होता है और ज्ञान, सुत, धन तथा हर्ष इन चारों से रहित होता है — अर्थात् इन चीजों के सुख में कमी करता है। ऐसा मनुष्य भ्रमण करता है अथवा उसकी बुद्धि भ्रान्त रहती है। यदि छठे घर में शनि हो तो जातक बहुत भोजन करने वाला, धनी, अपने शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाला (अर्थात् जातक के शत्रु को जातक ही हानि पहुँचावे), धृष्ट (ढीठ), अभिमानी होता है। यदि सप्तम में शनि हो तो कुदार-निरत (कुत्सित स्त्री में रत), दरिद्री, मार्ग चलने वाला और दुःखी होता है। पहले मार्ग चलना या यात्रा करना भी कष्ट का लक्षण समझा जाता था।
