EFFECTS OF VARṆADA: Now listen to the use of the above. Out of the two, viz. natal ascendant and Horā Lagna, whichever is stronger, from there Varṇada starts. If the natal ascendant is an odd sign, the counting of Daśās is clockwise. Otherwise anti-clockwise. The Lagna daśā years will equal the number of signs intervening between the natal ascendant and Varṇada. Similarly for other houses.

लग्न-स्पष्ट में से दशम-भाव को, चतुर्थ में से लग्न को, सप्तम में से चतुर्थ को, दशम में से सप्तम को, लग्न में से दशम को घटा लें। अथवा प्रचलित विधि से लग्न में से दशम को घटाकर शेष का छठा भाग (षष्ठांश) क्रमशः जोड़ते जाने से बारह भाव व बारह सन्धियाँ स्पष्ट हो जाती हैं। याम्योत्तर-वृत्तीय दशम-भाव साधन करके दशम + 6 राशि = चतुर्थ, तथा लग्न + 6 राशि = सप्तम होता है।
