ṢOḌAŚĀṀŚA: Starting from Aries for a movable sign, from Leo for a fixed sign and from Sagittarius for a dual sign, the 16 Ṣoḍaśāṁśas (16th part of a sign, i.e. of 1°52'30") are regularly distributed. The presiding deities of these repeat in the order Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva and Sūrya four times in the case of an odd sign. It is reverse in the case of an even sign that these ruling deities are understood.
