KĀRAKĀṀŚA IN VARIOUS SIGNS: If Ātmakāraka be in Aries Navāṁśa, there will be nuisance from rats and cats at all times. A malefic joining will further increase the nuisance. Should Ātmakāraka be in Taurus Navāṁśa, happiness from quadrupeds will result. Should he be in Gemini Navāṁśa, the native will be afflicted by itch etc. If he be in Cancer Navāṁśa, there will be fear from water etc. If he be in Leo Navāṁśa, fear will be from tiger etc. If he be in Virgo Navāṁśa, itch, corpulence, fire etc. will cause trouble while in Libra Navāṁśa, the Ātmakāraka will make one a trader and skilful in making robes etc. Scorpio Navāṁśa holding the said planet will bring troubles from snakes etc. and also affliction to mother's breasts. There will be falls from height and conveyances etc. if it is Sagittarius Navāṁśa that is occupied by Ātmakāraka. Capricorn Navāṁśa in this respect denotes gains from water-dwelling beings and conch, pearl, coral etc. If it is Aquarius Navāṁśa holding the said planet, the native will construct tanks etc. And in Pisces Navāṁśa the Ātmakāraka will grant final emancipation. A benefic's aspect will remove evils while that of a malefic will cause no good.

कारकांश-राशि का फल: स्वांश अर्थात्‌ स्व-आत्मकारक का नवांश ही कारकांश है — दोनों एक ही बात हैं। (1) मेष: कारकांश-लग्न में मेष राशि हो अर्थात्‌ आत्मकारक-नवांश मेष हो तो व्यक्ति को सदैव चूहों-बिल्लियों से कष्ट होता है। (2) वृष: चौपाए पशुओं से विशेष सुख होता है। (3) मिथुन: मनुष्य खुजली आदि त्वचा-विकारों से पीडित होता है। (4) कर्क: पानी से भय। (5) सिंह: हिंसक पशुओं से कष्ट। (6) कन्या: खुजली व शरीर में मोटापा; अग्निकण (चिंगारी) से भय। (7) तुला: व्यापारी, वस्त्रादि निर्माण में चतुर। (8) वृश्चिक: सर्पादि डँसने वाले कीटों से भय तथा माता के स्तनों में कष्ट या दूध की कमी। (9) धनु: किसी ऊँचे स्थान या वाहनादि से पतन। (10) मकर: जल से उत्पन्न वस्तुओं — मोती, मूँगा, मछली, शंख, सीपी आदि — से लाभ। (11) कुम्भ: मनुष्य तालाब, पानी से सम्बन्धित स्थान, प्याऊ आदि बनवाता है। (12) मीन: मुक्ति अर्थात्‌ मोक्ष पाता है। शुभ ग्रह की दृष्टि आत्मकारक पर कारकांश-कुण्डली में या लग्न में हो तो शुभ फलों की अधिक वृद्धि तथा पाप ग्रहों की दृष्टि रहने से पाप-फलों की वृद्धि होती है।
