EFFECTS OF PLANETS IN KĀRAKĀṀŚA: O Brahmin, if the Sun is in the Kārakāṁśa, the native will be engaged in royal assignments. If the Full Moon is there, he will enjoy pleasures and be a scholar; more so if Venus aspects. If strong Mars is in Kārakāṁśa, he will use the weapon spear, will live through fire and be an alchemist. Should strong Mercury be in Kārakāṁśa, he will be skilful in arts and trading, be intelligent and educated. Jupiter in Kārakāṁśa denotes one doing good acts, endowed with spiritualism and Vedic learning. One will be endowed with a longevity of 100 years, be sensuous and will look after state affairs if Venus is in Kārakāṁśa. Saturn in Kārakāṁśa will give such livelihood as due to the native's family. Rāhu in Kārakāṁśa denotes a thief, a bowman, a machinery maker, and a doctor treating poisonous afflictions. If Ketu be in Kārakāṁśa, one will deal in elephants and be a thief.

(शनि-राहु-केतु पर) कारकांश में शनि होने से मनुष्य अपने कुलक्रमानुसार प्राप्त कार्य व पैतृक व्यवसाय करता है। अथवा जाति व कुल के अनुरूप कार्य करता है। राहु रहने से चोर, धनुर्धरी अर्थात्‌ शिकारी, तीरन्दाज, हत्यारा या लोहे की चीजें बनाने वाला अथवा विष आदि के द्वारा या विष की चिकित्सा करने वाला (विषवैद्य) होता है। यदि वहाँ केतु हो तो बड़ा व्यापार अर्थात्‌ बड़ी वस्तुओं या चौपायों का व्यापार — उदाहरणार्थ बड़े आकार की कार, रेस के घोड़े, हाथी, उँचे जहाज, रेल के डिब्बे आदि — करता है, अथवा चोर होता है। (आत्मकारकादि केतु नहीं होता; राहु भी विकल्प से होता है, सदैव नहीं।)
