DREKKĀṆA-TIMING RULE: The effects of the Daśās of the planets are in accordance with their strength. The effects of a planet in the first Drekkāṇa are realised at the commencement of the Daśā. The planet in the second Drekkāṇa makes its effects felt in the middle of the Daśā. The effects of the planet in the third Drekkāṇa are experienced at the end of the Daśā. If the planet be retrograde the effects would be in the reverse order — that is, the effects of such a planet in 3rd Drekkāṇa are felt at the commencement of the Daśā and that of the retrograde planets in the first Drekkāṇa are experienced at the end of the Daśā. The Daśā effects of Rāhu and Ketu who are always retrograde will always be realised in the reverse order described above.

(१) ग्रह के बलाबल के अनुसार ही दशाओं का फल होता है । अर्थात् बलवान् अशुभ विशेषतया अशुभ फल करेगा और निर्बल शुभ भी साधारण शुभ ही कर सकेगा । (२) जो ग्रह राशि के पहले द्रेष्काण में हो, वह दशा के प्रारम्भिक वर्षों में; मध्यद्रेष्काण गत ग्रह दशा मध्य में एवं अन्तिम द्रेष्काण गत ग्रह दशा के अन्त में फल देते हैं । (३) यदि ग्रह वक्री हो तो द्रेष्काण भेद को विपरीत क्रम से समझना चाहिए ।
