The Sage replied — O Brahmin! There are two kinds of effects of Daśās — general and distinctive. The natural characteristics of the planets cause the general effects and the distinctive effects are realised by their placements etc.

पराशर बोले — सारी दशाओं का फल सामान्य व विशेष भेद से दो प्रकार का होता है । ग्रह अपने स्वभावानुसार शुभाशुभ फल देते हैं तथा ग्रहों की भाव राशि आदि स्थिति से भी दशाफल का निर्धारण होता है । अर्थात् निसर्ग शुभ ग्रह भी भाववशात् अशुभ एवं निसर्ग अशुभ भी स्थिति के अनुसार शुभ फलद हो जाया करते हैं ।
